Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Ustad mobile application or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Ustad is a technology platform that connects customers seeking home services with independent service providers ("Ustads"). Ustad is a marketplace — we do not directly provide home services. Service providers are independent contractors, not employees of Ustad.

3. User Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and phone number.
  • One person may hold both a customer account and a service provider account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Customer Terms

  • You agree to provide accurate job details, including location and service requirements.
  • You agree to be present or arrange access at the scheduled service time.
  • You agree to pay for completed services using the payment methods available in the app.
  • You agree to provide honest reviews based on your actual experience.
  • You will share the Work OTP with the assigned ustad only when work is ready to begin.
  • Cancellation policies apply based on the stage of the booking.

5. Service Provider (Ustad) Terms

  • You must complete the onboarding process and provide accurate identity and skill information.
  • You must maintain valid documentation and comply with verification requirements.
  • You are responsible for the quality and safety of the services you provide.
  • You must set accurate pricing and honor quoted rates unless mutually agreed otherwise.
  • You must update job status accurately and in a timely manner.
  • You must enter the customer's Work OTP before starting work.
  • You agree to Ustad's platform fee structure and payout terms.
  • You must comply with all applicable local laws and licensing requirements for your trade.

6. Payments

Customers may pay via JazzCash, EasyPaisa, or cash as available in the app. Service providers receive earnings in their in-app balance and may withdraw to JazzCash, EasyPaisa, or a bank account. Ustad may charge platform fees as disclosed during onboarding or in the app. Subscription billing for premium features is processed through Paddle.

7. Disputes & Resolution

If a dispute arises between a customer and a service provider, both parties should first attempt to resolve it through in-app communication. Ustad may assist in mediation but is not responsible for the outcome of service disputes. For unresolved issues, contact support@ustad.app.

8. Prohibited Conduct

Users may not:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Provide false information or impersonate others
  • Circumvent the platform to arrange off-platform payments for jobs initiated on Ustad
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Upload harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
  • Attempt to interfere with the platform's operation or security

9. Limitation of Liability

Ustad provides the platform "as is" and makes no warranties about the quality, safety, or legality of services provided by independent ustads. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ustad is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or services arranged through it.

10. Intellectual Property

The Ustad name, logo, app design, and all related content are the property of Ustad. You may not use our branding without written permission.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Pakistan, unless otherwise required by applicable local law.
